Bloggers' Buzz in London and A Fight Againt Plagiarism

My blogger friend, Preeti of Isingcakes and More and three other Londoners and bloggers came up with this idea of a day long event for bloggers. Here is the schedule.

It is a meet for passionate food bloggers and foodies for sure and if you are in London you cannot miss it. Check out the Bloggers' Buzz blog for further details.

We bloggers are connected by a passion for food, photography and culture. Networking with like minded people is something bloggers world over love to do. At Bloggers Buzz they have a masterclass on the Ethics of food blogging. I am sure this will be a very informative class, to build awareness and also strength among bloggers to fight plagiarism.

Sometime ago, Purva's Food Funda liked my FB page and invited me over to her page. The first thing that shocked me was she had my Vala cha Birda picture (the steel banana plate pic) in her album called "My recipes"!

I was furious, yet calmly asked her to either credit my pic to my source post or remove it. That is my right under the copyright law. Instead of taking action on it after couple of days she left a comment on my wall saying being a Marathi I was pulling her down instead of providing support!

There was no apology in the thief's words even when caught red handed and that irked Preeti so she came all out to support me. Both Preeti and I reported the photo and the page for Copyright Infringement to FB. The photo was gone, don't know if the thief removed it or FB.

Meanwhile, this thief  instead of shutting up decided to show her unpolished behavior abusing Preeti and sending messages and appealed to our "Marathi Asmita". Yes we are Marathi and I was left with no choice but to tell her off very rudely. It did not end at that. She delete her comments on my wall but here is my post for proof of the harassment.

Well we did not expect anything to happen after this. The shameless thief still keeps stealing saying one of her readers has contributed the pictures to her page. See this album. She does not take responsibility of cleaning up the so called "contributions" and by the way all uploads are by the page owner her self, note that. Now all this happened in Oct 2012

Next what followed is scheming roguishness after so many months of quite which we least expected from two women who must be at least college educated. In Jan 2013, Purva, first invited Preeti over to her page, then she told her off publicly and wrote a nasty message. Later the co-owner of the page and partner in crime Manisha Rane wrote to Preeti. That message is so foul that I refuse to put it up here. I am warning these two women to stop harassing my friend Preeti else I will have to report them to authorities. I know they are my regular readers even if anonymous and they are certainly not going to miss this post.

Jyanna Ingraji kalat nahi tyanchya saathi ha nirop:

Maze kuthele hi kaam, likhan, photo ani kalpana hya mazya malkichya aahet. Tya mazya parvangi shivay koni hi vaparu nayet hi vinanti. Ani jar ka parvangi shivay vapar zala, tar legal battle sathi tayar raha.

I have seen some other fans of my blogs using my pictures on FB pages. Please stop it. It takes lot of passion, time and energy to procure ingredients and other material, to take enticing pictures it takes original thinking and creativity. It takes a lot of my personal time every weekend to post even a single post on my blogs. I do this first for my self expression and then for the love my readers shower on my work. Remember this blog is for free you do not pay to access my work. As readers you must support me by at least taking my permission before you use any of the content. I appeal to the goodness in my readers.
Rhea and Ketan have started a FB group "Food bloggers Hall of Shame" where ethical food bloggers show solidarity in curbing the plagiarism that is eating into our energies time and again. We join hands to take action against anyone who uses any of our content without the explicit permission of the blogger. I have a page with my Ownership notice on this blog and all my blogs and request anyone who wants to use my content to read it and seek permission by writing to me at

Edit at 23:10 IST

This is how Preeti, being a teacher that she is shows the way to ethical food blogging and she is even rewarding people who are creative and innovative. Go over to check out what she is giving away as a Prize for Ethical food blogging.

Anjali, I am so sorry that you have to face this. She actually has her blog name across pictures she has stolen!
I don't know if it will stop with just her , there will be another 'purva' along after a while. I am sorry to say it, but it is the same thing over and over again.
If I may suggest, why not have the 'right-click' disabled on your blog, that way, there is some scope of protection. I am not a techie person, but gives me peace of mind to know that no one can just save my pix on their laptops and use as they want.

Hi Manasi,

If u disbale right click also you can copy by using snipping tool which comes in widows 7 version
Best is to install a software (dont remember name) even if u dowload picture from FB it shows in blur image

Hi Anjali,

Hope this helps for you

Manasi said...

Sigh! I am no techie and I do not know much about all this.
Thank God, I have the ethics ;)

Anjali said...

Manasi Thank you so much for suggesting, I have disabled the right click. You know the internet is such a generous place so we do not do these things at the outset itself, it save some trouble, while at work we are always on the guard and using the right techie things to protect our work. But there are those people who take advantage of that generosity. I never watermark my pics because I compose my posts on the go and when time permits. Now I will start watermarking too. It is high time, I did.

Anjali said...

Thanks a ton Sunil! wondering if you are my cousin, colleague or another reader. You lead me to a very useful forum. I have now disabled the right click.

Here is a that thief Purva's blog link.
She is a habituated content lifter and keeps copying recipes and pictures from all over the internet. Did you notice she even keeps changing the url address of her blog. I was trying to find the blog as in your screen shot it was called "" before. She is the same person. Her name is Purva Sawant, shame shame!!

Anjali said...

Hey anon, I did not link her blog, because her blog does not show up on google easily and I did not want the free loader to get more eyeball from my curious readers. She is not dumb for sure, she watermarks her pics and the joke is even has a copyright notice on her blog. This stealing is a habit.! I agree with you.

Hi Anjali - really sorry that you have to go through such cheapness....

I hope these links are useful:

There's no point in being nice. People take advantage of patience it's high time we treat evilness with harsher punishment.

Anjali said...

Kay thank you for those links. Yes we must treat them with a harsh hand. In the six years have had so many lovely readers and good people sending me requests for permission. I have consented to some and refused to others and those guys whom I refused stopped the use. This case it was blatant, lifting. The thief thought I would be thrilled to see my pic in "her recipe" folder so she invited me to her FB page!

Isingcakes said...

Anjali, I am glad, I have such a lovely friend like you. I am a fighhter, but can't deal with people using foul language. I hope such people who claim this as accidental plagiarism learn some ethics of blogging before venturing into it.

Anjali said...

Some people learn with one warning and some others need really harsh punishment. Let us wait and watch to see what material these two are made of.

You have proved it that you are a fighter, Lady! and appreciate you support every bit. Take care.

Hey Anjali , this page has shamlessly stolen pictures from Aayi's recipes and a few other blogs as well.. this thief needs to be reported

Anjali said...

Yes and not just pictures so many recipes copied from other bloggers and without credit or as much as a thank you for the inspiration.

Asmita said...

Wow Anjali!
Hats off to you for standing up for what's right. I am just shocked that instead of apologizing the person concerned became so agressive.
It's great that you took action.

Anjali said...

Asmita I am tired of fighting these plagiarist, every few years something of this sort happens. After the pic was removed, the matter was closed for me. If she had apologised it would have ended on Fb itself. I had to post this on the blog because that other woman started roughing up Preeti for supporting me and that too after 3 months! They don't know that they can be tracked down by the cyber cell and there is a law on cyber stalking.

It's so disheartening when anyone steals your pictures or recipes. It's happened to me too and I started this FB page but didn't get many likes:
Maybe time to join this page with the Hall of shame one!!

The blogger you mention is a slimy character as she has been in touch with me asking for help with her blog_ now I realise she is just using me!!

Anjali said...

Mina beware! Today again I caught her red handed. Checkout my fb page, see the screencap I posted from her blog.

Kichu Khonn said...

I too am so fed up of these thieves Anjali. Once did complain on fb ... not many responded. Have no option but to keep quiet. If I leave a line on their pages, they promptly delete it. Other times, their followers start being rude and say since the pics and texts are available on the net, anybody can use them. :-(

Anjali said...

Hey we have the forum now to blacklist such stealing bloggers, they will be watched!
