Khari Gaboli

Khari Gaboli is Koli for Salted caviar as in preserved. That is what my friend Parag Tandel does. Through his sculptures and art he is preserving the Koli heritage. This exhibition ran for more than a month at TARQ.

I was blown away with his art and presentation. The recipes were presented like you have never seen before!

The interactive floor mat art gave a feel of walking on the intertidal zone feeling the organisms that one would encounter there.

The wire sculptures were very interesting and interpretations are for your imagination.

I attended the talk too a concise presentation of Kadambari Tandel’s research work of Koli language, culture and traditions.

These sculptures are unique because Parag uses the Habur stone from Rajasthan as a connection of a seabed long lost to the shores of Mumbai.

Applauding Parag & Kadambari for preserving the Koli heritage through art !
